(WIMBERLEY, Texas) Singer-Songwriter Billy Crocket is ready to take his 1990 Lowden L25C acoustic guitar and hit the road again. The start, although, won’t take him far from home as he returns to the famed Cactus Cafe in Austin, TX on April 15. Dates continue on the East Coast with shows in New York City and the Boston area, as well as making a coveted stop at the Kerrville Folk Festival (see schedule below). He will be showcasing tunes from his latest album, Rabbit Hole, a collection of 11 songs that combine moving, joyful, reflective – and very personal – lyrics with wonderfully crafted melodies.

“Performing a live show is exhilarating.” Crockett notes. “To be centerstage is full of risk. All those ears in tune. All those souls resonating. Are you kidding?! It’s addictive.”

Just after the release of Rabbit Hole, Crockett launched on a fall tour, that brought him back on the road after a few years on touring hiatus and included an appearance at the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance conference in Austin as well as at one of the city’s signature venue’s, The Cactus Cafe. He continued on to more shows in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Since then he has gone on to successful runs of live concert dates. In February, he was fully involved as a featured panelist, professional mentor, and performing artist at the 29th Annual Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City in February. That month, Rabbit Hole also charted on the Folk DJ Chart, hitting #11.

Recently he joined in the SXSW festivities with a performance at the Folk Alliance and Kerrville Folk Festival Day Party. And capping off the week of non-stop music, Billy and his wife, Dodee Frost Crockett, hosted their Blue Rock Studio Annual Birthday Party. An invite-only all day performers-showcase event, the Crockett’s welcome performers and music-industry colleagues to their state-of-the-art recording facility, the Blue Rock Artists Ranch & Studio – a 27-acre hideaway in the beautiful Texas Hill Country locale of Wimberley, a half-hour outside of Austin.

All the while, praise rolled has in from critics. Rolling Stone singled out Crockett calling his warm sound “coffeehouse folk without pretension.”

“What really makes Crockett such an interesting listen is his own unique sense of self-identity,” they noted, “spare acoustic essays on political disillusion, an earth in peril and … Mavis Staples.”

American Songwriter added “the expression of an authentic soul, a true music lover, and a seriously thoughtful writer of songs.

“An astounding and beloved producer … the man writes songs – and performs them – with the same understated grace and ingenious invention he brings to his productions. Known to be the kind of producer who tells phenomenal musicians, ‘Less – less !’ until he achieves that exact delicate fusion of refinement and soul, he brings that same elegant economy to songwriting, delivering the essence of the thing with crystalline purity.”

And M Musician & Music expounded “Billy Crockett tears open his heart and pours out a measure of emotions that has been tucked in the corners of his soul. He carefully peels back each layer to give a guilt-free peek into the thought-provoking ideas dancing around in his head. And it’s truly an enjoyable ride. His lyrics paint portraits and landscapes, his guitar mastery is exceptional … infused with folk, jazz, blues and a whole lotta soul. The combination leaves the listener completely satisfied, yet wanting more. And that’s indeed an art in itself.”

While not touring, Crockett is also looking forward to more productions and events at Blue Rock Artists Ranch & Studio, with more songwriting retreats, and intimate performances that will be captured on live-streams.
