Stateside Introduction Coming Soon For Most Added, Gold-Certified Star

The forecast is sunny across North America as the United States prepares to receive a Canadian Gold-front pushing south later this year. Gord Bamford, the nation’s top country artist, is riding a swell of success as he readies a stateside release, having earned Most Added status at Mediabase with his latest single “Unreal” on the Canadian Country chart, and hitting No. 2 on the all-genre chart.

“Unreal” begins its run as the second single from Country Junkie, his sixth studio album and second for Sony. The first single, “When Your Lips Are So Close,” was recently certified Gold by Music Canada, while his album Christmas In Canada has earned Platinum status. A No. 1 smash at both BDS and Mediabase, “Lips” is Bamford’s first career Gold single.

Country Junkie, the album from which both songs are drawn, enjoyed a No. 1 debut on the Nielsen SoundScan Country album sales chart. The collection will get a U.S. release and promotional support later this year.

Should Bamford’s stateside reception be even a fraction of his Canadian run, he’ll spread his already substantial north-of-the-border fan base across the continent. After all, he’s only the third Canadian artist to score a No. 1 Country single in the BDS era. He earned five awards from seven nominations at last year’s Canadian Country Music Awards, including Album, Single and Songwriter.

All-in, he’s a 15-time CCMA winner who has toured with or opened shows for some of the biggest superstars in the genre, most recently Reba. Bamford has also put considerable energy into giving back, donating $100,000 last year to children’s hospitals. His annual golf classic has raised almost $1.5 million for underprivileged youth and single parent families to date.

He’s also a tremendous up-from-nothing success story, having started on his own vanity label, making waves with an independent record company, reaching new heights of success with a multi-national conglomerate (Sony) and now poised to take on the insatiably country-friendly U.S. market.
