(TORONTO)  “When Your Lips Are So Close, the debut track from Canada’s top country music artist Gord Bamford’s 6th studio album Country Junkie hit Gold Sales Status on the Nielsen Soundscan Single Sales Chart over Christmas 2013. This marks the first Gold single of Bamford’s career to date. The full album debuts in the U.S. market this year.

“When Your Lips Are So Close” is the 15th Canadian song to reach #1 on the Country chart making Gord Bamford the 3rd Canadian artist to have a #1 song on the Country chart in the BDS era. “When Your Lips Are So Close” is the first Canadian song to reach #1 on the Country Radio Chart since April 2012.

Gord reflects, “You always have that one song you write on a record where you go, ‘Oh that one is going to be a special one.’ But we got six or seven on this record I felt that way about so I’m just excited for my fans to hear ‘When Your Lips Are So Close’ on the radio.”

In September 2013 Gord Bamford dominated the Canadian Country Music Awards in Edmonton, Alberta taking home 5 awards from his 7 nominations in the following categories: Album of the Year (presented by Walmart)Single of the Year, CMT Video of the YearSongwriter of the Year, Record Producer(s) of the Year.

Bamford is a previous fifteen time CCMA winner.  This year’s wins for “Is It Friday Yet” can be added to the 2012 CCMA awards the album garnered Bamford and Hill for Producer(s) of the Year and Songwriter(s) of the Year. To celebrate the success of his Country Junkie release Gord Bamford hit the road for a Canadian Tour with celebrated Country Music superstar Reba McEntire. During his Canadian tour stops with Reba, Gord Bamford took the time to visit Children’s Hospitals across the country where he donated $100,000 from his Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation. Since creating the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation back in 2008, Bamford has generated nearly $1.5 million thanks to an annual charity golf classic he hosts in Alberta every summer. Those monies have gone to support underprivileged youth and single parent families in Canada by supporting education, health care and music.
