Philly’s World Cafe, Roots On The River Festival & More

(LOS ANGELES) The last thing you’d think a relentless touring artist like Fred Eaglesmith would need is the one thing those who know him best would most expect – more tour dates. Doggedly plying his craft and supporting his acclaimed album 6 Volts across North America, Eaglesmith and his hard-rocking band have added a return engagement at Vermont’s June 9-10 Roots On The River Festival and a June 13 show at Philadelphia’s World Cafe. Eaglesmith has played the former for nearly a decade.

Of course, the band’s 2012 Route 66 Tin Can Caravan will take the eclectic and electrified Eaglesmith experience to new levels during an 18-day Chicago-to-Santa Monica journey in September. If the Canadian rocker’s relentless pursuit of road nirvana has any rival, it’s his creative talents: He’s widely hailed as one of the most compelling singer-songwriters of his era.

His current album 6 Volts, tabbed as a “powerful piece of work” in a rave review by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, has only deepened the esteem in which he is held by fans, critics and his peers. More praise for Fred Eaglesmith:

  • “He’s never sounded better, or more authentic.” –Billings Gazette
  • “He’s always chosen the road less traveled and it’s made all the difference… He’s a skillful raconteur …. a prolific songwriter.” –Fairbanks Daily News Miner
  • “Eaglesmith puts on an amazing show.” –Arizona Daily Star
  • “A true sensory experience …his lyrics clearly show he’s a true student of life. The result is a catalog that speaks to listeners’ hearts as it melds the sonic flavors of bluegrass, folk and rock … Eaglesmith recorded [6 Volts] with a live band and one (seriously) microphone … sometimes the back-to-basics approach is truly the most beautiful.” –Blurt
  • “It seems high time that the Fred of lonely gravel roads, lonelier women, frustrated Saturday evenings, roadside artistry and junkyard Americana paid a return visit.” –Country Standard Time
  • “A master storyteller; one of the finest [in] any genre, of any generation.” –Waterloo Record
