FRED EAGLESMITH LAUNCHES 2013 TOUR IN 1980

Acclaimed Road Warrior Continues Non-Stop Trek In New Year

(ANYWHERE, North America) Possessed of a spirit closer to the vaudeville traveling company than the packaged glitz of today’s music business, Fred Eaglesmith and his band is rolling on into 2013. But don’t call it a tour launch. The iconoclastic singing and songwriting dynamo doesn’t embark on tours. He is a tour. Has been for years.

So as the calendar trips into 2013, Fred, his road-weathered band and his vegetable oil-powered tour bus will keep on keeping on, with more than 40 dates already booked through the year’s first few months. And those are just the ones he’ll cop to. The Eaglesmith touring experience often features impromptu stops, campground jam sessions and other gloriously unmanaged expressions of entertainment.

He’ll help the fine folks of Schulenburg, TX ring in the New Year at Sengelmann Hall, go nautical in January on Delbert McClinton’s Blues Cruise and jump across the pond in February for a run of solo European dates. In between, Eaglesmith and company will bring their critically hailed, industry-skewering musical proselytizing to clubs, festivals and halls across North America.

“What we’re really doing is reminding people that before the business took everything over, rock and roll was all about coloring outside the lines,” Eaglesmith says. “It was a movement – an escape and an alternative to everything we were all being told we had to do. The best moment in any show is when I see that understanding dawn on someone’s face … when they realize that truth and start to really feel that freedom again.”
