KRYSTAL KEITH LAUNCHES CREATIVE PROCESS FOR NEW ALBUM
Hometown Show Set For May 8; Barnyard Bistro Blog Posts New Recipes
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Show Dog Nashville singer, songwriter and performer Krystal Keith made a name for herself with one of the biggest voices in country music and one of the most acclaimed debut albums last year – Whiskey & Lace. After a successful multimedia run with the project, Keith is back in the writer’s room and studio to begin work on a new project.
A preliminary recording session last fall is the foundation upon which she is building, with songwriting appointments scheduled over the next several weeks. Krystal has the benefit and challenge of setting a high bar with her debut, a musically diverse outing that drew widespread media and fan attention – including spawning one of country’s biggest viral videos in recent years.
Between writing and recording, Keith is keeping busy with shows and prose. She’ll perform at the Sooner Theater in her Norman, Oklahoma hometown May 8. Tickets are available here. She also continues to exercise her other passion, cooking, on The Barnyard Bistro Blog. Her latest recipe for Banana Foster Pancakes is up on the GAC-TV blog, where she also regularly posts. View it here.
Last year’s opening slot on the Shut Up And Hold On Tour helped introduce Krystal to hundreds of thousands of fans, who quickly found out she was much more than just a warm up act for her superstar father Toby Keith. That awareness had been building since the release of “Daddy Dance With Me,” which she wrote as gift for her dad and surprised him with at her own wedding. The video went on to more than three million views and paved the way for Whiskey & Lace. The album was critically praised with Yahoo Voices noting, “Krystal has talent, a lot of it, and she is going to reach heights of fame that even her father could not imagine,” and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stating, “When Krystal lends her deep, well-polished voice to the swaying, organ-infused hard-luck-turned-good tale of ‘Can’t Buy You Money’ or the smoky, swampy blues of ‘Down Into Muddy Water,’ she reveals herself as an exciting new artist…”
This is one of my favorite indulgent breakfasts. It combines one of my favorite breakfast foods, pancakes, with one of my all-time favorite desserts, Bananas Foster. If you haven’t ordered Bananas Foster at a restaurant, go ahead and put it on your foodie bucket list because it is a must! Bananas sautéed in brown sugar, butter and rum. They light the mixture on fire, which is always fun, and serve it over vanilla ice cream. Sounds like the perfect topping for pancakes, too, huh? I also thought so.
Bananas Foster Pancakes
Make pancakes using my Protein Pancakes recipe found HERE on The Barnyard Bistro for a hearty, healthy pancake, or use one of your own favorite pancake recipes.
3 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp chopped walnuts
1 large banana, sliced
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
In a small or medium skillet, melt butter, brown sugar and maple syrup over medium heat. Once the brown sugar has fully dissolved, add the walnuts and sliced banana. Toss to coat bananas and heat them through. Add cinnamon and nutmeg to taste. Pour over pancakes and serve immediately.
