‘Life on the Road’ Blog Launched

New Tour Dates Announced

First Single, “Living It Up,” From Upcoming Album Launching Soon

(LOS ANGELES) – The year is only a quarter of the way over, yet Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R. have already racked up enough memorable moments to keep them happy for all of 2014, which will also see the release of the group’s third album, “Love Yourself.”

The group marked their 5th anniversary of touring with a standout show at the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado on March 30. “The show went incredible!” wrote Nelson on his new tumblr blog, “Life on the Road.” “Anthony Logerfo, our trusted drummer and my good friend, said it was like a battle on a ship…He was holding the rudder, I was firing the big guns and Tato and Corey were keeping the engine working overtime! The crowd was insane and fun and we loved every minute of it!”

In true rock and roll fashion, the fun didn’t stop there as the group celebrated this career milestone after the show. “We danced on the bus all night long! It was a perfect euphoric ending to the 5 year anniversary of the band,” wrote Nelson.

Other tour highlights so far this year include selling out their March 22 Salt Lake City show at the State Room so quickly that they immediately added a second show. On March 13, Nelson and his band hit the stage for one of the most talked about events surrounding South by Southwest – the third annual Heartbreaker Banquet hosted at Willie Nelson’s Luck, Texas ranch, which also featured brother Micah Nelson’s Insects vs. Robots.

Though the Nelsons all share the stage often, people are taking notice that the hubbub is not because of a famous last name. In fact, PopMatters recently wrote, “There’s a general tendency to be somewhat skeptical of children of celebrities who choose to follow in their parents footsteps. But Nelson, son of country music legend Willie Nelson, is well on his way to carving out his own niche as one of the more gifted rock ‘n’ rollers of his generation.”

PopMatters also reviewed Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R.’s February show at the Belly Up Tavern show in Solano Beach, California February, saying, “The ability to blend classic influences into new sonic flavors is one of Nelson’s strongest attributes and was evident throughout the night.”

The band continues their journey on the road with more dates this summer including a performance at the Topanga Days Festival located within miles of where the band recorded their upcoming album, Love Yourself

Meanwhile, Nelson continues to write his musings from the road to give fans a deeper look at his life. “In lieu of writing in a journal, which I do sometimes but no one ever sees, I will impart these musings and epiphanies while traveling on the road and playing music…from recalling memories to conjuring ideas for the future, I will try to leave a piece of my life here in words,” wrote Nelson at

Nelson has been writing from the bus and backstage at most stops along the tour route this year, as well as posting tour photos on Instagram and Facebook. In another recent blog, written from the back of the bus on the way from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Nelson opened up about love: “I don’t have the ability to accept even the most tender arms of a love that would seek to hold me in one place. I’ve tried that before, and it ends in heartache. I have to settle for the love that my music brings me. It’s not so insignificant in comparison.”

As fans await Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R.’s “Love Yourself,” the band offered up some new music, the unreleased song, “I’m Gone,” as a free MP3 download from their website with the purchase of any merchandise. The first single, “Living It Up,” will launch soon. Of the new album, Nelson says, “This record is a lot more positive and reflective than the last. [2012’s] ‘Wasted’ was a snapshot of this darker place I was in. This new album is me having emerged from that place and finding balance again in my life and really connecting with my band.”
