ROBBY JOHNSON SIGNS WITH CONTRAST MUSIC & SONY RED
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) More than three million YouTube views for his debut single meant independent country sensation Robby Johnson wouldn’t be independent for long. And now the “South Of Me” singer has signed with Contrast Music for a North American distribution deal through powerhouse Sony RED Distribution as he readies his next single.
Johnson has rocketed onto the country music scene, earning attention and praise from the media, airplay at country radio and, of course, those astounding video numbers. So it was almost a foregone conclusion that he wouldn’t see his second single released before a major player offered him a deal. Sony RED will oversee the digital and physical releases of his new single “Feel Good Song,” the song’s video and Johnson’s forthcoming album.
Making its bid as the “Feel Good Song” of summer, Robby’s latest lives up to its title billing with an upbeat, good-time vibe that connects as easily as his first release, which one outlet described as “soulful and simmering.” For the video, Johnson will be reunited with director Ryan Smith, the creative force behind Jason Aldean’s “My Kind Of Party” video.
Set for a June 28 appearance on FOX’s Huckabee and an Aug. 19 performance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Johnson is ramping up for the release of his 12-song debut. Collaborators on the project include musician/producer Jimmy Nichols (Elton John, Faith Hill) and Grammy-winner Frank Myers (“I Swear,” “I’m Already There,” “Tomorrow”). Robby has writing credit on half the album, including both of the singles.
The rising French-Canadian country stylist who Billboard called “romantic … delightful … warm … inviting,” Johnson is also gearing up to tour in support of the album. Dates and album details will be announced shortly. Find out more at www.robby-johnson.com.
