ROBBY JOHNSON’S “SOUTH OF ME” TRENDING UP, EARNING RAVES
Viral Video Wins Fan-Voted Award; Radio Tour, Letterman On Tap
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Independent country artist Robby Johnson is challenging every convention of the country music industry with his new single “South Of Me” and its incredibly reactive video. Already enjoying nearly 3 million YouTube views, the video is driving a groundswell of support unlike anything the genre has ever seen.
“South Of Me” recently drew praise from an executive with CMT, who said, “Robby Johnson’s debut video ‘South Of Me’ touched CMT Pure Country fans who made it one of the most successful independent video releases of the year! We’re excited to see what’s next!” The video spent seven consecutive weeks on CMT Pure’s fan-voted 12-Pack and also just won Roughstock’s 2014 “Music Video Madness” contest, earning more than three-quarters of the final round vote.
Meanwhile, the song continues to climb the charts, where Robby is one of the highest charting independent artists to hit the Music Row chart. Later this month, he’ll embark on an extensive radio promotion campaign, visiting stations on the West Coast (week of May 12), in the Northeast (w/o May 19), the Midwest (w/o June 9), the Southeast (w/o June 16), and on the East Coast (w/o June 25).
As previously announced, Johnson is also looking forward to his national late night debut on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman. He’ll visit the historic Ed Sullivan Theatre for his performance on August 19.
Understandably, top media outlets are raving about Johnson and his music:
- “Really great guy and fun interview! We truly enjoyed meeting him and are excited to introduce him to our national audience.” -–Lorianne Crook, Crook & Chase
- “Romantic…delightful…warm…inviting,” –Billboard
- “Soulful and simmering…millions of fans are captivated.” – Music News Nashville
- “Exciting new talent – a huge addition to country music’s roster – Digital Journal
- “A singer well-equipped for stardom…” –Roughstock
The rising French-Canadian singer-songwriter’s music is produced by two of Nashville’s most accomplished creators including musician/producer Jimmy Nichols (Elton John, Faith Hill) and Grammy-winner Frank Myers (“I Swear,” “I’m Already There,” “Tomorrow”). The video was directed by Ryan Smith (“My Kind Of Party”). Even with top names attached, the music is all about Robby Johnson, who co-wrote six of the 12 songs that will appear on his upcoming album including “South Of Me.”
Ryan Smith and Robby Johnson team up again in the coming weeks to shoot a new video, this time in Los Angeles, for the much-anticipated summer, up-tempo track, “Feel Good Song.”
