Singer-Songwriter Billy Crockett Leads Viewers
Down The Rabbit Hole With New Video Blog
WIMBERLEY, Texas – To help celebrate the release of Rabbit Hole, his first album in seven years, singer-songwriter Billy Crockett has launched a new video blog titled “Behind the Rabbit.”
Each segment will take listeners on a short journey, offering insights into his writing and playing and the inspirations behind the album’s 11 songs. In the just-posted first segment, Crockett creates what amounts to a trailer for an in-progress title-track music video. Shifting from jumpy kaleidoscopic images to Crockett singing and strumming in his studio, the clip offers a tantalizing taste of the “happy little modern tale of dread.”

Future episodes will contain guitar-playing tutorials, performance segments and more insights into each track of Rabbit Hole, an album M Music & Musicians magazine praised for its craftsmanship saying, ” Billy Crockett tears open his heart and pours out a measure of emotions that has been tucked in the corners of his soul. He carefully peels back each layer to give a guilt-free peek into the thought-provoking ideas dancing around in his head. And it’s truly an enjoyable ride. His lyrics paint portraits and landscapes, his guitar mastery is exceptional… The storytelling in this album is even more effective with the calculated sparse and precise guitar work infused with folk, jazz, blues and a whole lotta soul. The combination leaves the listener completely satisfied, yet wanting more. And that’s indeed an art in itself.”
Crockett released Rabbit Hole, which he produced, on his own Blue Rock Artists label in October. In addition to his acoustic guitar and vocals, it features bassist Roscoe Beck, percussionist Eric Darken and electric guitarist Daran DeShazo.
He is supporting the release with a series of performances, including an appearance on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Austin’s iconic Cactus Café and another on Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Blue Door in Oklahoma City, Okla.
When he’s not performing or workshopping new songs at the “Blue Tuesday” songwriting sessions he hosts weekly at Blue Rock, he might be engineering or producing recording sessions at this custom-built, artist-friendly studio and 27-acre retreat in the hill country outside of Austin.
