Tour Commences After Emotional Haggard Tribute On Fox; Golf Classic Set

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Singer, songwriter and entertainer Toby Keith has been a workin’ man dang near all his life, as his full spring and summer schedule can attest. At the top of the list is the Toby Keith Interstates & Tailgates Tour Presented by Ford F-Series, which opens May 10 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Rising country singer-songwriter Eric Paslay has recently been added to select Interstates & Tailgates Tour stops.

With dates crisscrossing North America already on the books, performing will keep Keith busy through October. At the same time, fans hungry for new music can take heart that Toby has returned to the studio and is working on a new album. His most recent album 35 mph Town was released last year to widespread acclaim.

Next month, the 13th Annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic will raise money for The Toby Keith Foundation and its work supporting seriously ill children and their families through the OK Kids Korral. A “Denim & Diamonds” gala dinner, performance and auction June 3 will give way to the next day’s shotgun start golf tournament. Approximately 750 attendees are expected at the event, which has raised millions since its inception.

Most recently, Keith honored Country Music Hall of Famer and legend the late Merle Haggard on last Sunday’s American Country Countdown Awards. The prime time performance on FOX-TV ran through a small sample of Haggard’s genre-defining songs including “Mama Tried,” “Today I Started Loving You Again,” “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink,” “Workin’ Man Blues,” “Silver Wings,” and “Okie From Muskogee.”

In addition to honoring Haggard with an extended medley, Keith was honored to have Merle’s son Ben and his band the Strangers backing him. “To get to work with the Strangers is a big deal to me,” Keith told Rolling Stone. “I’ve been listening to them since I was a baby.” Read the full interview here and watch the performance here.
