Takes Viewers on a Magical Trip Through Time

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin’s music royalty, Shelley King, is taking her press-approved “powerhouse” and “show-stopping” vocals on the road this spring and summer for an eclectic array of performances. Due to the groundswell of support for her recent shows and her latest album, Madam Mystic (Lemonade Records), more dates have been added for her unique Rural Tour, as well as additional solo shows and new dates with collaborator Carolyn Wonderland.
King’s talent and commitment to putting on a great live show, as well as her commitment to being of service to her community, led her to be recognized by the Texas Legislature and appointed Official Texas State Musician. The organization has also recently given her a grant to bring her live show to underserved areas of Texas as part of the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Rural Tours Initiative.
Here’s a sampling of what fans can expect from King’s tour…
“Electric Southern blues and acoustic folk,
revved-up Cajun country and rock ’n’ roll.” (Dallas Observer)

“Sultry sexuality.” (Houston Music Review)
“King’s Earth Mama vocal omnipresence
… trips the neon lights fantastic.” (Austin Chronicle)
“Shelley proves to be
quite a powerhouse singer.”
(The Netherlands’ Bluestown Music)
“A fixture in Austin’s famed musical scene, prolific songwriter,
and show-stopping singer”
(East Portland Blog)

“I came up with the idea of time travel where the elevator is our portal,” explains King. “We travel through time and collect different characters from the past and the future. Maybe we are all trying to get to our destination but as it turns out, the journey through time with the other travelers is the real party. That’s the message — Time doesn’t matter. It’s all about here and now and the experiences we can share together.”
