2012 – Several continents behind him, award-winning singer/songwriter Toby Keith extends America’s gratitude to those stationed in Afghanistan as part of his 12-day, five-country USO tour. More than 3,500 troops and support personnel flock outside for their chance to see and hear Toby Keith perform a USO show just for them. Iraq followed Afghanistan, with Toby visiting remote FOBs (Forward Operating Bases) there as well as those he visited in Afghanistan. Visits included a hospital, and two larger performances, one at Camp Victory outside Baghdad and one at Al Asad, then onto Germany. After performing for Marines at a “FOB”‘s (Forward Operating Bases) in Norther Iraq, Toby Keith takes takes a moment to greet some of the hundreds of soldiers he has performed before as he travels to Fallujah to perform his eighth USO show in 72 hours. Flying from one base to another by Blackhawk UH-60 helicopters. Some of these FOB’s get very few tours through there facilities, or smaller acts, so a tour by Toby Keith is a very major event for them – particularly during this this Memorial Day week.
